5 Things You Didn’t Know About Me

I’ve been tagged by Nadir to post about this. I’m supposed to write 5 things you didn’t know about me until now.
Hmmmm… let me think…
- When I was younger (at the age of 10 or so), my goal was to be a cartoonist. I changed my mind later because a) I got introduced to computers and b) I haven’t had the patience/passion to draw comics. I just draw quick, random stuff as you can see in this sample I’ve just made.
- The infamous Sub7 has indirectly lead me to web development. Yup. First I wanted to be a “hacker”, so I got Sub7 and started screwing up dumb people with “SEX.MPG.EXE” files. Next, I thought I should learn the real deal and start programming, so I got into C and C++ and used them for around a year. By then, I already had a few “hacking” tutorials and some mini-programs, so I wanted a place to put them in - a web site, and it started from there.
- I’m a hardcore gamer. My favorite type of games are those that mix action and strategy (instead of running around killing everyone in your way), like the Hitman series. My all-time favorite game is Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
- I’ve learned/developed my English by mainly translating what I hear in video games and movies; and what I read on the internet (using my trusty electronic Arabic-English dictionary), NOT my education as many people think. Of course, school did help me a bit (along with other things), but the mentioned factors helped me the most.
- I’m probably one of the few Saudis who don’t care about cars, stocks or soccer at the same time ;).
And that’s it I guess..
Too bad I have no one to tag. They’re all either too busy, or don’t want to lose their mystique. (they know who they are!)

Yeah, nice drawings Mashhoor. Boy, the Ocarina of Time is my all-time favorite game too, but Twilight Princess is awesome too!

I’ve bought Twilight Princess for the GameCube, and yes, it’s pretty good, but not as good as Ocarina of Time back then.
Ma sha allah nice drawings. Are you a calligrapher too?
Since your a hardcore gamer, which would you suggest PS3, XBox, or Nintendo Wii? (it’s for my brothers)
Finally, your english is really nice ma sha allah. Where did you learn english, and don’t say that you learned english from games and movies.

Getting a PS3 would be a bad idea. There’s nothing special (yet) about it, and it’s already losing exclusive titles to the xbox360.
I didn’t try the Wii, but i hear it’s great fun, especially when it comes to multi player games. So, unless your brothers are one of those typical casual gamers who just play soccer and racing games - get the Wii, otherwise get the xbox360.
AND the internet ;). I swear to god that’s how i improved my English, especially the internet. Movies and games helped me with dialogues mostly. The internet helped me improve the rest, and that’s why my written English is better than my spoken English.

Not at all. But I do enjoy playing soccer though, so don’t worry.
whoa, so thats how you learned english, it took me years to learn, and i mean proper english without the slang
Well, it does get much easier when you know someone, whose first language is English, to practice with the whole time.
There are many others (saudis) who share point number five with ya!
I never cared about stock, succor, and car!
I guess I wasn’t lucky enough to meet one then.

will…. you can draw comics in part time i really like your drawing…
and you can learn any language the same way as you learn english…because you look intelligent ma sha allah
and don’t forget we are not doing our best..we are doing what is necessary..

The problem with drawing is that I get bored pretty fast. I might be good at it, but I don’t enjoy it unless I’m really really bored and I have nothing else to do (which rarely happens).
Regarding languages, I learned English not because I liked it, but because I had to. So I doubt I’ll be able to learn another language unless I’m forced to do so.
And finally, I do have multiple goals, but just one major goal.
